Story Shannon Murphy

On Saturday, July 24, 2004, Truck Co. #1 hosted the NYS Old Fashioned Drill as part of the festivities for its 125th Anniversary Celebration. Lynbrook Tournament Team, the “Tumblers” may not have won the tournament, but were winners none the less. The top finishers for the day were:

First-place: Rockville Center Woodlanders
Second-place: Freeport Wide Awakes
Third-place: Freeport Night Hawks
Fourth-place: East Meadow
Fifth-place: Plainview

Congratulations and thank you to all who participated!

To complete the day, Truck Co. #1 hosted an invitational parade down Merrick Road welcoming fellow firefighters from as far away as Massachusetts. Joined by members of the Ladies Auxiliary and the Junior Fire Department, the Lynbrook Fire Department, under the leadership of Chief David Pearsall, took great pride in leading the parade. The Lynbrook Fire Department was honored with a second-place trophy for Best Appearing Fire Department (61 members and over) and the Junior Fire Department took first-place for the third time this season. Thank you to all who came out in support of Truck Co.’s anniversary.
