On Friday afternoon, October 16, 2009, the Lynbrook Fire Department, under the command of Second Deputy Chief Michael Hynes, responded to a reported three car accident at the Five Corners intersection of Merrick Road and Hempstead Avenue.  The Emergency Medical Company and the department's Extrication Team responded to the scene which contained only two damaged vehicles.  Two people were injured in the accident one of which was removed on a stretcher from one of the smashed vehicles.  The Medical Company transported the injured to the hospital.
