Vehicle Drives Into House

Story and Photos by Ex-Captain Steve Grogan

A 68-year old Lynbrook resident wasn't injured when on Saturday morning, June 29, 2013, at 7:50 AM, he drove into the front of a house at 558 Broadway opposite Farnum Street.  The department's Emergency Medical Company and the Extrication Team, under the command of Chief Edward Hynes, responded to the scene.  The air-bags deployed when the driver hit the house which sustained wall and some structural damage.  The driver was able to get out of the vehicle.  The Medical Company took the driver to South Nassau for observation.  The Building Department also responded at the request of the chief and the occupants of the three apartments in this multiple dwelling were ordered not to use the front door entrance due to the damage.  The driver told medical personnel that this was his first-ever accident.
