Teamwork at Auto Accidents Rescues Many Injured

Story and Photos by Ex-Captain Steve Grogan

Recently at two different evening two vehicle auto accidents in the first two weeks of February 2007, the first on Merrick Road with four injured, the second on Sunrise Highway with two injured, the fire-medics of the Lynbrook Fire Department’s Emergency Medical Company, the department’s Extrication Team, and Tally-Ho Engine 3, teamed up to help the injured. Those injured and trapped in their cars were carefully removed by the fire-medics and firefighters from their wrecked vehicles and placed on stretchers and transported to the hospital by one of Medical Company’s ambulances.  At the Merrick Road call the Valley Stream FD responded with an ambulance to assist while at the Sunrise Highway call the East Rockaway FD responded with their ambulance.  Here are some photos from both calls.
